Downtown Disney

Yesterday we decided to check out Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is like a large outdoor mall with everything from dining with dinosaurs to a distinctly Disney shopping to catching incredible live music and shows. The best part is that it's FREE!

Divided into 3 sections - West Side, Marketplace, and Pleasure Island we got a lot of exercise walking through all the areas.

We thought about taking in the Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba live entertainment show but the tickets were quite expensive so we decided to pass on it.

Along the way we passed this great Lego exhibit. Somebody had a great deal of talent and patience .

This is what I call a Tinkertoy.

When we got tired from walking we took the water taxi around the lake. It was a relaxing scenic ride and the best part it was FREE.

We returned to the dock by the Rain Forest Cafe, seeing we were both hungry we decided to give it a try. I don't think we ever ate at the Rain Forest Cafe before. If we did I can't remember.

The life like animated animals were amazing and they kept us entertained while we ate. Occasionally a loud thunder storm sounded which scared all the little kids.

Bev is checking out the fish swimming in the aquarium next to our table.

We both had hamburgers & fries for lunch. The massive hamburgers had to be at least 2 pounds. Bev couldn't come near to finishing hers but I arose to the occasion and ate all of mine. My mother always told me to clean my plate. You must be proud mom.

After lunch we had to sit to let the food digest so we spent quite a while watching the kids getting wet playing in the water spouts.

It was quite entertaining and we had a lot of laughs at the kids expense. Their parents were good to let them play and get soaked.

All and all it was a very enjoyable day that didn't cost us anything except for lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. We got in our exercise and did a lot of people watching which is always fun. Sometime next week we will probably spend the day at Epcot since it has been quite a few years since we were there.
