The last blog was published from Paradise RV Park in Panguitch, UT. It was a nice quiet park and we had a fantastic Internet connection.
We are now located at our new home at Verde Valley Thousand Trails, Cottonwood, AZ. and covered a lot of fantastic scenery on the way here. We toured so much in the last week it will take a couple of blogs to cover it all.
Saturday morning August 17th we left Paradise RV Park and headed south through some of the greatest scenery to our next destination, Glen Canyon and Lake Powell, Page AZ.
As you can see Bev was at work with the camera taking photos as we zipped down the highway.
Just before we arrived in Page, AZ we stopped at the Big Water Visitor Center. Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument.
As you can see from the map below the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument covers a large area. Much of our trip South was through this area.
We finally made it to Glen Canyon.
We crossed the Glen Canyon Bridge on our way to Page and our campground.
Height above the river: 700 feet
Span of the bridge arch: 1028 feet
Vertical rise of arch 165 feet
Length of deck: 1271 feet
Width of roadway 30 feet.
This is the view we saw of Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell as we crossed the bridge.
Ah - we finally arrived at the campground and got settled in. The scenery from our site was great.
It was still early in the day so we jumped in the car and headed for a view point overlooking Lake Powell.
That was enough for our day of travel and I was getting tired from all the driving so we called it a night.
We were in Page, AZ for only four days and then moved on to Canyon De Chelly, Chinle, Arizona (pronounced 'de shay') for only two days. We then hit the road heading to our present home, Verde Valley Thousand Trails, Cottonwood, AZ. That didn't give me any time to publish a blog so I waited until we arrived here.
I have a lot more blogging to do from last weeks travels and I did promise in the last blog that I would cover our trip to Temple Square, Salt Lake City, Utah which I will do in a future blog.
Our Internet speed from my Verizon Air Card is extremely slow so I headed to the Rec. Center here at the campground and used the free WiFi on site. It is a little faster but it still takes a while to upload photos to the blog. Because of this I will publish shorter blogs but I will cover all our travels and Mormon Temple Square.
See you on the Internet. Tom & Bev Livin and Lovin the RV Lifestyle.
