We ran from the cold, now we are in Woodbine, GA

Well the cold got to us so we are so out of Forest Lake, Advance, NC. We had a great stay but Burr!

Wednesday October 30th we headed south to The Oaks at Point South, Yemassee, SC. The traffic was heavy going through Charlotte, NC and it was windy but we finally arrived in South Carolina after a 5 hour drive. We only stayed there for two nights though because the cold weather was following us south.

Notice the date on the camera is wrong it is actually 11/01/2012. I don't know why the camera lost its date but I have now reset it.

Friday November 2nd we headed south again for an easy ride of 2 1/2 hours down I-95 to our new home at Walkabout Camp & RV Park in Woodbine, GA. We are right on the Georgia/Florida line just north of Jacksonville, FL and it was so nice to climb out of the camper in the wonderful warm air. The sun is shining the weather is great, what more could we ask for. (OK a large class A camper with full wall slide but that's not happening.)

The date on the photo should be 11/03/2012

Walkabout Camp is an RPI resort, which we are members, which only cost us $10.00 per night. This is a nice small campground with only 40 sites but they are level and we are at the end of the row with plenty of room.

There are many sights to see in this area but I am real excited to see the Okefenokee Swamp again. Notice I say again. When I was in the Army I was stationed in the Okefenokee Swamp for a couple of months. This was the start of the Vietnam War and I was assigned here as part of the group training the CIA officers that would be training the Vietnamese Soldiers in Vietnam.

We have driven through this area many times but never stopped. There is a lot to do here so we will be checking out the area for the next 11 days.

We will be leaving here on November 13 heading south to 3 Flags RV Resort in Wildwood, FL. That will start our winter stay in Florida. For the next 3 months or so we will be traveling back and forth between Orlando Thousand Trails and Peace River Thousand Trails in Wauchula, FL. Of course we plan on visiting Don & Joni Tassinari while we are here. They, along with their dog Maggie Mae, are great hosts and we are looking forward to seeing them.

Last year we spent 3 weeks in each campground going back and forth because it doesn't cost us any money to stay at the Thousand Trails Resorts. Thousand Trails has a rule that during "high usage" we are able to stay only 2 weeks instead of 3 weeks. Both Orlando and Peace River have that restriction but last year they didn't say anything when we stayed 3 weeks at a time. That changed for this year, although we had reservations for our 3 weeks they just called us and said we could not do that. Well it was a pain in the neck but I re-did all our reservations for 2 weeks in each place. I am not happy but it's part of our contract so what can I do.

Our prayers are going out to all the people suffering in the North East from the storm "Sandy". I feel so bad for our friends (brother) Wayne & Joann whose cottage in Milford, CT was devastated.
